We compete in the higher-quality, higher-price market. From that perspective we position ourselves as: ‘The designer’s choice for high quality Australian made window and door products.’ How we startedSTAR has been in business for over 30 years, having been established in Western Australia in the 1960s. We still manufacture in WA from the same site where we began. After 10 years of successful operation in WA, and increasing business in the eastern states, STAR decided to establish a manufacturing plant in NSW to better service this market. Over a period of time, the business became more focussed on the eastern Australian market and STAR decided to relocate the corporate headquarters to Sydney. STAR's founder was John Jackson, a builder with a knack for design and who felt that there was a gap in the market for higher quality, well designed window and door products in the Australian market. John Jackson sold the company to a consortium of investors in the
1980s and the company remains a private company with 11 shareholders. |
